Gently Used Shoe Collection

BioPed Oakville and the Salvation Army are asking all race participants to donate their gently used running shoes to the “goodytwoshoes” foundation. This charitable project aims to give the gift of comfort, activity and better foot health to thousands of Canadians in need of footwear. BioPed Pedorthists will properly fit and distribute thousands of pairs of shoes during their Dignity Day event in May 2012. Please drop off your footwear at the BioPed booth at the Runner’s Expo (Saturday, September 24th) and fill out a ballot for your chance to win a new pair of Saucony running shoes.

The Brooks PureProject

In October, Brooks Canada will introduce a new way to experience running, through what the company is calling the biggest launch in its history. A new collection, the Brooks PureProject, incorporates five technologies to promote a closer to the ground connection to the run, promote a natural stride and weigh less than 10 ounces each.

Based on the insight that sometimes runners want to “feel the road” when they run and other times want to “float” along on a cushioned ride, Brooks is evolving the footwear selection to help runners find the  perfect shoe based on their day-to-day running personality. For more information regarding this program, stop by the Brooks booth at the Runner’s Expo booth on Saturday, September 24th.

Oakville Terry Fox Run

All Oakville residents are invited to come out on Sunday, September 18th to honour Terry Fox and raise money for cancer research. You don’t have to be a runner to participate! All are welcome to walk, bicycle, rollerblade or run either a non-competitive 5K or 10K route. This is a perfect warm up run for the Oakville Half Marathon taking place the following weekend. For more information please email Pam Damoff at: oakvilleterryfox@gmail.com.
